
Paul Eather is the Principal of Higgins Lawyers, leading the firm into its next chapter while upholding the values of integrity, service and community connection that have defined Higgins Lawyers since its founding in 1939.
Paul joined Higgins Lawyers in 2019, where he was entrusted with the firm’s Family Law practice. Working closely alongside long-standing Principal Ross Higgins as his mentee, Paul developed a strong alignment with the firm’s client-focused philosophy and commitment to practical, compassionate legal advice. This partnership laid the foundation for a seamless leadership transition, with Paul appointed Principal and new owner of Higgins Lawyers on 1 October 2025.
As Principal, Paul is focused on ensuring Higgins Lawyers continues to thrive in an increasingly complex and highly regulated legal environment. He recognises the importance of adapting to evolving governance frameworks and embracing the heightened compliance standards being rolled out across the profession. Under Paul’s leadership, the firm is committed to strong governance, best-practice risk management and continuous improvement—ensuring regulatory obligations are met while maintaining efficiency, transparency and accountability.
Paul believes that robust governance and compliance are fundamental to delivering the highest quality legal services. By embedding these principles into the firm’s operations, he ensures clients continue to receive clear advice, consistent service standards and outcomes delivered with professionalism and care.
Paul practises across a broad range of matters, with a particular focus on Family Law and dispute resolution. He is an AMDRAS Accredited Mediator, enabling him to assist clients in resolving disputes efficiently and respectfully, with an emphasis on practical outcomes and minimising conflict wherever possible.
Outside of legal practice, Paul has a longstanding interest in World War I history, particularly the lessons of leadership, resilience and service that continue to inform his professional and personal values. He is also deeply committed to the local community through his involvement in coaching men’s rugby, where he enjoys mentoring players, fostering teamwork and supporting the development of discipline and respect both on and off the field.
